Call for Abstracts - GAGH2 Forum 2026

Share Your Research and Innovation at the 4th German-African
Green Hydrogen Forum 2026

The Organizing Committee invites researchers, academics, industry experts, engineers, innovators, policymakers, and graduate students to submit abstracts for presentation during the Forum, which will be held on 24–25 September 2026 in El Jadida, Morocco.

The Forum serves as a unique platform for exchanging knowledge, showcasing innovative technologies, and strengthening collaboration between Africa, Germany, and international partners in the fields of Green Hydrogen, Power-to-X, Industrial Decarbonization, Logistics, Certification, and Sustainable Energy Systems.

Selected contributions will be presented during the Forum and considered for inclusion in the official conference proceedings.

Proceedings and Publication

Accepted and presented contributions will be eligible for publication in the official proceedings of the 4th German–African Green Hydrogen Forum 2026. The proceedings will be published in E3S Web of Conferences, an international open-access series dedicated to engineering, energy, and environmental sciences, providing worldwide visibility to the published works. Only registered authors who present their contributions during the Forum will be considered for publication in the proceedings.

In addition to the conference proceedings, participants are invited to contribute to the forthcoming Springer edited volume "Engineering Ammonia Systems for Clean Energy and Sustainable Industry." The book will explore ammonia-based solutions for clean energy, hydrogen storage and transport, sustainable industrial applications, advanced materials, and Power-to-X technologies. Authors interested in contributing a book chapter are invited to submit a chapter proposal according to the publisher's guidelines.

About the Tutorial

The IMPACT+ Tutorial is an intensive 3-hours training program organized as a pre-event of the 4th German–African Green Hydrogen Forum 2026. Designed for PhD students, researchers, engineers, faculty members and young professionals, it provides a comprehensive introduction to semiconductor electrochemistry, photoelectrochemical conversion, green hydrogen production, advanced catalytic materials and industrial scale-up challenges.

Tutorial Programme
I Fundamentals of Semiconductor Physics & Interfacial Electrochemistry
Electron and holes in semiconductors, energy bands, bandgap, P and N doping, absorption processes, and charge carrier transfer. Fundamental and experimental aspects of interfacial electrochemistry and photo-electrochemistry.
II Photo-electrochemistry on Semiconductor Electrodes

Photo-electrochemistry on Semiconductor Electrodes: Characteristics and kinetics of electrochemical reactions. Experimental and Analytical methods, Solar energy conversion efficiencies into electricity, hydrogen, and solar fuels (internal and external Quantum efficiency (IQE, EQE), Faradaic efficiencyF), Quasi-Fermi levels, photovoltage, and photocurrent. Current-voltage (I-V) characteristics in the dark and under illumination. Capacitance measurements, flat-band potential, and energetic diagrams.

III Green Hydrogen Production Mechanisms & Solar Fuels
Green hydrogen production and transport. Challenges of multi-electron reactions and catalyst's role (iridium, platinum), volcano-plots. Solar-to-electricity, solar-to-hydrogen, and solar-to-fuel conversion efficiencies. Photoelectrochemical energy storage systems.
IV Data Modeling and Simulation
Advanced simulation techniques, numerical modeling of experimental data, and theoretical fitting.
V Brainstorming Session on Moroccan Industry
Scaling up challenges of Green Hydrogen: Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyzers, gigawatt-scale gigafactories and water-stress for electrolyzers, integration of desalination plants. Challenges of moving hydrogen over long distances (pipelines, high-density carriers like ammonia, Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carriers…).

Meet the Instructors
Prof. Ahmed Ennaoui
Prof. Ahmed Ennaoui

Professor Ahmed Ennaoui is an internationally recognized scientist in thin-film photovoltaics, photo-electrochemistry and renewable energy. He obtained his MSc and Doctorate in Solid State Electronics from the University de Bourgogne, France, and earned his Habilitation (summa cum laude) in 1987 on earth-abundant materials for solar energy conversion. He served for over 35 years at Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin, heading a research group in heterogeneous material systems.

He published extensively on transition metal chalcogenides and thin film solar cells, and more recently on inkjet-printed PV and soiling solutions. With over 300 peer-reviewed papers, he ranks among Stanford's top 2% of researchers worldwide in applied physics and among Morocco's top 2% per the AD Scientific Index.

He is President of IRESEN's Scientific Council, founded the Virtual Learning University (VLU) for clean energy education, and served as visiting professor at Osaka University and Research Director at QEERI. A senior IEEE member and editorial board member, he supervised over 40 theses and 15 postdoctoral researchers.

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ennaoui
Prof. Abdelilah Benyoussef

Professor Abdelilah Benyoussef is widely recognized for his pioneering contributions to materials science, renewable energy modeling, and statistical physics. He earned his Doctorat d'État from the University of Paris-Sud in 1983, and he is a full member of the esteemed Hassan II Academy of Science and Technology. His academic work is distinguished by its exceptional international influence. With more than 400 scientific publications and over 850 indexed documents, his official Google Scholar profile has more than 16,770 citations.

One of his primary scientific focuses is modeling renewable energy. He develops new materials for green hydrogen storage and advanced solar batteries using ab initio calculations and Monte Carlo simulations. He also conducts intensive research in condensed matter physics, focusing on phase transitions, magnetism, thin films, and nanomaterials.

Professor Benyoussef also plays significant leadership roles in the scientific landscape. He is the national coordinator of the Center of Excellence for Condensed Matter and System Modeling and an associate professor at the Moroccan Foundation for Advanced Science, Innovation, and Research (MAScIR).
